BUILT AROUND YOUR APPLICATION
Select the hydraulic and installation arrangement.
The MQ family includes different impeller designs and motor configurations. Review the exact model and frequency-specific curve for the proposed duty.
01 / PRODUCT DETAILS
Impeller selection
MQ options include open-channel, chopper, vortex, grinder, and high-head hydraulics. Each addresses different liquid and duty requirements; confirm solids handling against the selected model.
02 / PRODUCT DETAILS
Wet and dry installation
WET versions operate submerged. Applicable DRY versions use a cooling arrangement for installation outside the liquid. Confirm the version, minimum operating level, and cooling requirements.
03 / PRODUCT DETAILS
Motor and monitoring
The MQ range features IE3 motors, thermal protection, and leakage-monitoring provisions. Verify the supplied motor, sensors, electrical requirements, and any project-specific approvals.
Confirm local availability and required approvals for the exact model. Published 50 Hz and 60 Hz ranges differ; family-wide maximum flow, head, and solids values are not simultaneous ratings.
APPLICATION GUIDANCE
Match the equipment
to the operating conditions.
Define the duty point
Provide normal and peak flow, total dynamic head, pumping levels, discharge piping, and operating schedule. Include the existing pump curve if available.
Describe the wastewater
Identify solids, fibers, rags, grit, temperature, and chemistry. Include observed clogging, wear, or process changes when replacing existing equipment.
Review installation and controls
Provide wet-well or dry-pit dimensions, mounting and discharge details, power supply, controls, monitoring requirements, and service access. State any required project approvals.
HUDSON PUMP & EQUIPMENT
Talk through the details.
Hudson can help organize a new MQ pump inquiry or review replacement requirements. Send the nameplate, installation drawings, and actual operating data to establish which configuration needs to be evaluated.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you specify.
Are chopper and grinder configurations the same?
No. They use different hydraulic and cutting arrangements. Review the solids characteristics and required duty before choosing a model.
Can any submersible version operate in a dry pit?
No. Specify a version approved for that installation and follow its cooling and operating requirements. Confirm the exact model documentation.
Can I use a 50 Hz curve for a 60 Hz installation?
Use the curve for the actual model, motor speed, and frequency. Manufacturer ranges and performance differ between configurations.
